Dress Code
The dress code is semi-formal/cocktail.
For her: Cocktail, midi, knee and tea length dresses are wonderful options; as are jumpsuits and separates such as skirts, tailored suits, jackets, slacks and button-downs. Heels, wedges, dressy flats are likewise well received!
For him: Suits and suit separates, jackets and ties, khakis, button ups are all perfect options. Oxfords, wing tips, ties, and hats are also welcome.
For our beloved nonbinary guests: Dress as your authentic self, any of the above is appropriate and welcome.
There is no need to adhere to a color palette or theme. Bright colors, bold prints, demure pastels, conservative, racy, muted, vivid…whatever makes you feel festive and confident is appropriate here! Dress to imbibe; dress to dance, dress to celebrate!
We do kindly ask that guests avoid denim and sneakers (unless you’re planning to swap your dress shoes for Nikes on the dance floor!). Tees and terry cloth are also discouraged unless for medical/sensory accommodations.
And of course: solid white, ivory, cream, and eggshell are reserved for the bride.
Are children welcome?
We’re happy to share this day with your little ones! No obligation to bring them if you’re confident a wedding isn’t something they’d enjoy, or if you’d rather make this an adult date night. Jewish congregations and clergy are very comfortable with the sounds of children and babies (even at inopportune moments). Please do not be apprehensive if your kiddo is expressive during the ceremony!
We will have coloring books and crayons at the reception for your munchkins to use and keep. Please make sure you RSVP with ALL members of your party.
Food allergies
Our dinner service from Dar Salam will include an array of gluten-free and vegan options as well as meat and dairy. Our dessert bar from Kyra’s Bakery will also serve gluten-free and vegan cupcakes. If you need additional dietary accommodations, please reach out to us at parker-gheist@protonmail.com.
Parking
Paid parking is available in select lots on the corner of Flanders and 19th. There is also limited street parking available with the free Parking Kitty app. Both venues are on the 77 and 15 bus lines as well as within walking distance of the MAX train. Guests are responsible for their own transportation and parking to and from the wedding and reception. The synagogue is less than 100 feet from the reception venue. Please see travel page for more details.
Jewish Weddings
We are excited to host our friends family who have never been to a Jewish wedding!
Non-Jews are not required to wear a kippah (yarmulke) in the synagogue or at any other time during a Reform ceremony, nor are you prohibited from doing so. We will have brand-new kippot (yarmulke) available for anyone of any gender to wear and to keep as a memento.
We will also be distributing programs with details about the rituals and blessings, their significance, transliterations and translations, so at no point will you be swimming in Hebrew and unsure about what’s going on.
Wedding registry
Click here for our wedding registry and our Venmo account for cash gifts which will go towards a down payment on our first home together. There will be a designated table at the reception where you can leave any gifts and cards. Gifts are gratefully accepted but not required; we do however encourage all our guests to leave us words of advice, celebration and remembrance in our card box.
Drinks & Cocktails
We will have specialty cocktails, wine, and beer available throughout the evening. Please have your ID on hand. There will also be unlimited water, iced tea, lemonade, and coffee available.
Pets
We love animals and treasure the bonds our loved ones have with their furry family. That said, for the comfort and safety of all, please leave your pets at home unless they are service animals. If you wish your service animal to join you at our wedding, please include them as your guest when you RSVP.
